After a rigorous and competitive selection process, the following organizations and businesses were selected by the University of Oregon to host an undergraduate student for 10 weeks between late June and early September.

Affiliated Tribes of NW Indians The Affilitated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) is a nonprofit and membership organization with headquarters in Portland, Oregon. ATNI members are federally recognized Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages. ATNI supports sovereign and policy efforts of their membership and focuses on a host of issue sets primarily economic development, environment, climate, and water. ATNI is looking for an intern with particular interest in working with Native American communities and natural resource issues. As an intern you will work with the Water Project staff supporting the tribal youth leadership program. Your work may include scheduling, class instruction, graphic design, outreach and program implementation.
BEAM Village The Black Educational Achievement Movement (BEAM) is a collective of Black educational service providers committed to interrupting the generational cycles of struggle for educational attainment and socioeconomic success of Black youth and adults in Oregon. BEAM offers high quality extracurricular cultural experiences and mentoring to elevate youth of African descent in pursuit of education that will prepare them for the globe marketplace. This Learning Hub Facilitator internship provides an opportunity to learn about non-profit community organizing through a culturally empathic lens geared towards racial, economic, and social justice. The facilitator will learn the history of Black experience in the Portland area and will work closely with the BEAM Executive Director to support outreach, planning, and research for various projects. Student of any major considering non-profit and/or social justice work with marginalized yet resilient communities of color should apply.
Bienestar Bienestar is a Latinx-led organization building housing, hope, and community for the wellbeing of Latinxs, immigrants, and all families in need. They believe safe, stable and affordable housing is fundamental for the economic wellbeing and reduction of intergenerational poverty in communities of color. This marketing and communications internship is an opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience in content creation, social media management, donor management, website editing, and video production. They will work closely with the Communications and Development Manager to increase awareness about the organization and its mission. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
Black Food Fund

The Black Food Fund works to support and uplift the collective work of an ecosystem of Black-led organizations working to support Black-led food systems transformation in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. They work toward food justice and the preservation of Black agricultural traditions by providing funding and resources for Black farmers and Black owned food enterprises in Oregon and Washington.

The Capacity Building Intern will help increase the organization's reach serving Black Farmers in the Pacific Northwest. Projects may include developing a database of Black farmers, creating outreach materials, surveying financial needs and untapped opportunities, discussing federal policy, and learning about the farming, entrepreneurship, and food businesses in the Northwest. Gain exposure to careers in agriculture, marketing, policy and more.

Blanchet House of Hospitality

Blanchet (pronounced Blan-shāy) House is a nonprofit social services organization located in Old Town Portland. Blanchet House's mission is to provide judgement free service of food, clothing, shelter, and aid to all those in need of a safe place to be nourished and restored. Blanchet House believes everyone deserves dignity, hope, and community.

This position provides essential support to Blanchet House’s houseless program services by assisting with volunteer check-in, in-kind donations, and meal service operations. You will have the opportunity to design and lead projects in support of our meal guest services. Training and many opportunities to develop knowledge and experience at a non-profit human services agency will be provided.
Boost Oregon Boost Oregon empowers people to make science-based vaccine decisions for themselves, their families, and the community. They aim to disrupt the cycle of vaccine misinformation by providing evidence-based education and outreach. This internship can be research or communications based, depending on the intern's interests and skills. Possibilities include researching a particular community's vaccine hesitancy and proposing culturally-appropriate actions to increase vaccine confidence; producing a podcast that amplifies our work and broadens our reach; developing a teen and young adults vaccine ambassador program; and/or advancing our social media to engage younger audiences.

Catholic Charities of Oregon Immigration Legal Services

Catholic Charities of Oregon Immigration Legal Services (ILS) is a nonprofit program providing low-cost consultations and legal representation to immigrants and refugees throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. They promote justice for all newcomers and advocate for conditions that allow their full participation in American society. They focus on family reunification and assistance to the most vulnerable immigrants and refugees.

Under the supervision of an attorney or accredited representative, a student intern will participate in the day-to-day operation of Immigration Legal Services. Tasks include interviewing clients, translating declarations, drafting motions and memoranda on legal issues, preparing evidence for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and assisting clients with their immigration applications and petitions at all stages of the case. Spanish fluency is preferred but not required.
Citizen Ruth

Citizen Ruth is a small queer-owned retail/wholesale business focusing on social justice and pop culture gifts. They are an ethics forward company providing high quality, intersectional feminist art, books, clothing, jewelry, and home accessories. Citizen Ruth directly supports over 250 female, queer, and marginalized artists and makers from all over the world.

This marketing internship will focus on learning how to grow brand. Learn about the stages of growth at a small business and help find the tipping point social media. This intern should be a queer-friendly and motivated indivdual who can help develop unique and creative marketing opportunities that move beyond the typical Facebook and Instagram route by benefitting the community and creating new lasting relationships.

City of Beaverton, Oregon

The City of Beaverton's Community Development Department (CDD) supports the livability and growth of the community. The CDD is commited to working toward their vision to thrive as a sustainable, inclusive, and highly connected urban community with affordable housing choices, a dynamic downtown, accessible transportation systems, and more.

This internship will help you develop skills in planning, community engagement, public communications, and mapping and data analysis. Projects include a new bike count program to better inform the City’s progress towards increasing bicycle mode share. Other projects include working alongside planners to develop public engagement materials and collaborating with our economic development team to support activities with downtown businesses. Gain exposure to the people leading CDD work, and the potential career paths available within community development and local government.

Community Warehouse

Community Warehouse is a nonprofit furniture bank focused on redistributing gently-used housefold items directly to neighbors in need. They believe connecting people in need with essential furnishings can create stronger home foundations and brighter futures. //Community Warehouse (CW) is the only furniture bank serving the greater Portland area, redistributing donated furniture and household goods to neighbors in need. Through referrals from 200+ social service agencies, schools, and faith communities, families visit the Warehouse to get the essential furnishings they need to create comfortable and happy homes. Our vision is that everyone in our community can have a place to sleep, a place to eat, and a place to gather.

In this role, you will work in partnership with the Development Team to determine what client information will be most useful in Community Warehouse's marketing and fundraising efforts. As an intern, interview current and past clients to determine Community Warehouse’s impact. Collected data and stories will inform marketing and fundraising campaigns.

Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program

Constructing Hope works to rebuild lives by encouraging self-sufficiency through skills training and education in the construction industry. It provides no-cost, ten-week construction training programs, placement services, and career advancement support.

This position will provide project management and support to fundraising and marketing efforts during our 15th Anniversary year. Working with the Director of Development and the Marketing Manager, job duties will include coordinating components of a fundraising campaign, hands on event planning for our 15th Anniversary Celebration, and gathering information for the annual report and monthly graduate feature stories.

East County Rising Community Projects

East County Rising Community Projects (ECRCP) is a grassroots organization energizing East Multnomah County residents to create equitable, livable communities centering underrepresented & marginalized people. They aim to increase power and advance policies that help make improvements in the lives of Black, Indigenous, and communities of color, intersecting race, gender, sexuality, immigration status, age, disability, class, and lived experiences.

This internship offers an exciting opportunity to learn about how this organization does community organizing. In addition to classroom-style learning, there will be practical experiences, where you will take part in exciting programming in leadership development, civic education and engagement, grassroots organizing and advocacy, or coalition building.

Elevate Oregon

Elevate Oregon is a Black-led non-profit organization serving at-risk youth of color and low-income youth in outer NE Portland. Elevate Oregon provides wraparound services to youth of color grade 6-12 through mentorship, afterschool and summer activities, and other resources.

This position provides experience related to marketing, journalism, content creation and event planning. In this internship, you will seek out opportunities to increase visibility through publicity and earned media opportunities, gather stories and create content for e-newsletters, create marketing materials and both plan and help launch a Fall Open House event.

Future Work Design

Future Work Design is an organizational strategy and design firm. They provide consulting services in equity and inclusion strategy, organizational design, and strategy planning. Future Work Design is 100% woman owned.

This internship will be focused on the launch of Either/Org, an organizational design innovation lab bringing together a worldwide community, led by Future Work Design. You will have the opportunity to build skills in marketing, event planning, and/or research. One of the following three projects are available depending on interest: (1) plan a 3-day retreat/conference, (2) research, write and publish an article on innovative organizational design, (3) plan and create a social media campaign. Opportunities to shadow or learn about other areas of Future Work Design's business will be made available.
GladRags GladRag's mission is to positively transform the experience of menstruation through reusable menstrual products & relevant education by creating high-quality reusable products, rather than single-use disposable products that harm our planet.  This internship offers a chance to develop your specific strengths and interests within a collaborative, women-led small business environment. Opportunities include assisting with Benefit Corporation recertification, outreach and educational projects, developing creative digital and/or print content to support our mission of positively transforming the experience of menstruation, and more.
Ground Up PDX Ground Up calls itself a "not-just-for-profit" business that provides job training to womxn overcoming adversity in the Portland area. Through the sale of various nut butters, they empower womxn with the confidence and skills they need to get back on their feet. Ground Up PDX is offering a social media and marketing internship. You will be tasked with driving awareness for through social media, influencer engagement, brand partnerships, PR and more. Candidates with experience related to social media, marketing or public relations are highly encouraged to apply.
Hacienda CDC Hacienda CDC is a Latino Community Development Corporation that strengthens families by providing affordable housing, homeownership support, economic advancement and educational opportunity. This position provides support to event planning, communications, and community-centered projects. Participate in the creation of organization-wide communications through a variety of mediums and take on the opportunity to spearhead a visual story library that includes stories and photos documenting the impact of the organization’s work in the community.


Impact NW aims to prevent homelessness by partnering with thousands of people in danger of losing their housing. Impact NW works to address the barriers folks face when accessing services by providng trauma-inormed, strengths based, culturally responsive programs. Services include rent & utility support, as well as job training, parenting support, and opportunities for children.

This intern will work with the diversity, equity, and inclusion manager to research and create content and internal trainings for the community and internal DEI resource library. You will have the opportunity to learn about professional partnership, see how DEI can be embedded in organizational culture, and network with The Portland social services community.


InsideTrack is a nonprofit organization that leverages the power of coaching to directly support students and staff to achieve better educational and career outcomes. Their mission is to fuel social mobility and close equity gaps by empowering and advancing laerners. This internship is designed to support digital marketing and content strategy with tasks such as competitor research, content research/planning, and website management. You will have the opportunity to learn elements of digital marketing strategy including search optimization, video marketing, paid advertising, and more. Be immersed in InsideTrack's marketing function for a customized experience matching your personal and professional goals.

Latino Network

Latino Network's mission is to positively transform the lives of Latino youth, families, and communities with a vision to see them thriving, engaged, and influential. They are a Latino-led education organization grounded in culturally-specific services for Latino populations in the Portland-area. Latino Network's wraparound services include promoting early literacy, encouraging parent involvement, working with gang-involved and adjudicated youth and families, and providing academic support.

In this role, work directly with K-8 students in Latino Network’s summer SUN programs. This is a great opportunity to be a role model, instruct students, and to be exposed to a myriad of wraparound services offered to families.


LatinoBuilt is a nonprofit trade association for Latino contractors in Oregon whose primary purpose is to support and empower Latino-owned businesses in construction. LatinoBuilt works with community partners to address current inequities and connect contractors to public works project opportunities.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience and training in several aspects of marketing and communications, while also learning about a small, specialized nonprofit. Work closely with leadership on creative ways to engage audiences in LatinoBuilt’s mission. Ideal candidates will be bilingual and biliterate.

Law Office of Erin Robinson

The Law Office of Erin Robinson was founded to serve the unique needs of individuals and families throughout the world who are engaged in the family building process, with a focus on donation, surrogacy, and LGBTQ+ family formation. The office advocates to protect the interests of children and families.

As an intern, be directly involved with creating legal pathways to family building for our clients, from assisting with hospital communications to ensuring that contracts comply with state and home country-specific legal requirements. This position also includes LGBTQ+ community outreach and education, and exploring software and technology solutions for improving small firm efficiencies and solutions.

Make & Mary

Make & Mary is a Latinx owned business creating offerings for body, bath, and soul. Their products are crafted in-house by a team that calls themselves artists of whole plant wellness.

This marketing internship will include possible projects such as social media marketing and digital storytelling across a variety of platforms, D2C marketing for e-commerce, newsletter strategy, content creation, working with photographers, and customer service. You will have the opportunity to be creative in the small business environment and according to your strengths and interest. Learn how to run a small business and how to market and cater to clients authentically.

MetroEast Community Media

MetroEast Community Media is a non profit community media center training the next generation of media makers and ensuring digital equity in East County and beyond. MetroEast has a mission to use media to invigorate civic engagement, inspire diverse voices, and strengthen community life. Their content reaches over 350,000 homes in the greater Portland area.

As an intern you will assist with summer youth and adult media education (including video production, podcasting and VR technologies) and digital literacy via a mobile media innovation lab. You will also be helping our award-winning production team with film productions for nonprofits and government. 

Mimi's Fresh Tees

Mimi's Fresh Tees is an apparel company promoting social justice and women's empowerment. Mimi's Fresh Tees allows people to wear their beliefs on their clothes, which they hope will spark more social justice based conversations.

This internship is an opportunity to support a social justice and women’s empowerment themed apparel company. You will be tasked with creating a marketing and social media calendar for online sales. Candidates with experience in marketing or content development/creation are encourage to apply.

Native American Youth and Family Center

The Native American Youth and Family Center's (NAYA) mission is to enhance the diverse strengths of youth and families in partnership with the community through cultural identity and education. As a social service agency and community center, NAYA provides wraparound services to the diverse urban Native community in the Portland Metro area.

This opportunity offers a chance to develop your specific strengths and interests. You will have the chance to explore the organization’s 35+ services and programs and match your skills, co-creating a project with NAYA leadership. You will focus primarily on providing support to Camp Rise which serves youth 2nd – 8th grade in exploring cultural identity, physical movement through recreation and traditional indigenous games, cultural arts, traditional teachings, and often STEAM programing through a culturally specific lens.

Nesika Wilmut

Nesika Wilamut (pronounced Nah-sigh-kah Wheel-ah-moot) is an evolving, community driven network that weaves together the many diverse people and communities who care about human and ecological well-being in the Willamette River Basin.

This internships includes tasks within social media, marketing, administrative work, research, and both community and partner outreach. You will play a leadership role in planning the Within Our Reach conference that takes place at UO. Walk away with a summary report of key findings from your project research and strategic recommendations.

Partners in Diversity

Partners in Diversity works with employers to address critical needs for achieving and empowering a workforce that reflects the rapidly changing demographics of the Pacific Northwest. They strive to create a competitive advantage in Oregon and southwest Washington by attracting, retaining and developing professionals of color through educational programs, career resources, and networking events.

This intern position will support research on two major projects: (1) research appropriate speakers for the 2023 NW Equity Summit, a diversity, equity, and inclusion summit for employers and those passionate about DEI; (2) research the organization’s Oregon businesses and how have they lived up to their statements after the murder of George Floyd. You will also work with the program staff to execute Partners in Diversity programming.

Portland Gear

Portland Gear is an apparel company founded on the idea of community and with a passion for Portland. Their recognizable logo reflects their mission, "Rep the P" to see Portland uplifted through positive storytelling and postitive change. Portland Gear values sustainability and giving back to their community.

In this role, take the lead designing and executing the Holiday 2022 Collection, as well as planning monthly social justice and community activations that are tied to a topical story and narrative - some examples of topics include sustainability, mental health, diversity, Pride, and the overall wellbeing of Portland. Get an overarching feel of what it means to be a part of a small business by connecting with all aspects of the business.

Portland Parks Foundation

The Portland Parks Foundation is a non profit dedicated to connecting Portlanders to nature and to each other through the city's parks, public spaces, and natural areas. They raise funds and develop partnerships and programs to make the parks system accessible to all.

This position provides hands-on experience for those interested in nonprofit management. Gain knowledge and skills in a broad range of topics related to grantmaking, fundraising, community outreach and engagement, public/private partnerships, database management, and strategic communications. Research and learn about the Portland community and help share voices and stories through social media, event programming and blog posts.

Portland Tennis & Education

Through tennis and a variety of after-school and summer programs, Portland Tennis & Education works to instill in young people a love of the game while strengthening character, building life skills, and inspiring a healthy lifestyle. Their goal is to ensure that every student involved in their K-12 program graduates high school with the opportunity and tools to pursue the post-secondary path of their choosing.

In this role, you will work directly with K-12 students in support of accomplishing academic goals, meeting social emotional milestones, and engaging in fun, thoughtfully-planned tennis and wellness-related activities. Serve as a role model by modeling a growth mindset, planning meaningful educational and enrichment activities, monitoring and enabling student progress, and leading community activities. You will also have the opportunity to learn first-hand about nonprofit / small business management by supporting various activities connected to marketing, fundraising, program partnerships and general administration of a youth development organization. 

Produce Portland

Inspired by the lack of resources in the Portland artist community, Produce Portland is an experiential and unconventional retail experience. Produce is not only a lifestyle brand for men, women, and children, but a noteworthy service-based destination for the Portland culture.

This internship is an opportunity to design a project based on the your strengths and desired learning experience. Possibilities include social media management, learning and implementing market trends, design, brand management, and learning the inner workings of owning a business.

Pueblo Unido PDX

Pueblo Unido PDX is a non-profit organization that provides legal service navigation, client advocacy, and financial assistance to immigrants facing detention and deportation in the Pacific Northwest. They help people obtain legal aid and gather supporting evidence for cases of those with vulnerable immigration statuses.

In this position, work alongside the Executive Director and navigation team to connect individuals with vulnerable immigration statuses to social services and other wraparound supports that promote family, stability, and prosperity. You will also coordinate and deliver outreach and education efforts to reach immigrant communities.

Rose City Book Pub

Rose City Book Pub is a Portland-based small business that brings together books, music, art, community and conversation. The Book Pub is a place for people to gather together, enjoy good food and drink, or to simply retreat to work and read.

This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a small business. Projects may include marketing and promotion, event planning, and how to value and catalogue rare books.

Rose Haven

Rose Haven is a day shelter and community center serving women, children and marginalized genders in northwest Portland. They envision a future community where everyone has safety, stability, love, health, and home. Rose Haven offers holistic, person-centered services such as food service, hygiene, financial assistance, and advocacy.

This intern will support Rose Haven's direct service programs and summer special events, which include Pride Celebration in June, Summer Picnic in July, and Back to School Drive in August. As a direct service intern, have the opportunity to rotate through various shelter roles including clothing shop, food service, gathering essential supplies, and supporting our shower and wellness program. Assist with planning, timelines and themes for the three summer events, inventory of supplies, guest registration and day of event support.

Sabin Community Development

Sabin Community Development Corporation works to stabilize and improve the livability of culturally diverse Portland neighborhoods by assuring the availability of long-term affordable housing and by encouraging community partnerships for local economic development.

This internship provides an opportunity to research and create a volunteer program. Duties will include researching successful, existing volunteer programs in the community, interviewing interested volunteers, creating application documents, setting up a background check system, website updates and posting opportunities on volunteer databases.

Schoolhouse Supplies

Schoolhouse Supplies promotes educational equity in public schools by providing free school supplies to under-resourced students in under-funded school communities.

An intern at Schoolhouse Supplies will build and implement capacity for program growth by coordinating one or more back-to-school initiatives, learning about project management, program delivery, fundraising, and engaging with community stakeholders. Additionally, be a part of Schoolhouse Supplies’ first capital campaign.

Self Enhacement, Inc.

Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) is dedicated to guiding underserved youth to realize their full potential. Working with schools, families, and other partnering community organizations, SEI provides wraparound services and opportunities for personal and academic success bringing hope to individual young people and enhancing the quality of community life.

As an SEI intern, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and explore your interests while working as part of the dynamic teams who deliver comprehensive summer programs. Programs focus on grades 6-12 academic enrichment, health and wellness, college/career connections, K-12 basketball and other athletic camps, and family-community engagement.

St. Johns Center for Opportunity

St. John's Center for Opportunity empowers neighbors through community bulding and people-centered economic development. They have three focus areas for working toward a thriving and just community: economic empowerment, building community resilience, and neighborhood placemaking.

The Farmers Market Intern will receive on-the-ground experience working with a variety of vendors from diverse backgrounds, assisting with supervision of high school interns, and working with the manager to lead our volunteer program. During the week, they will support three food access programs and assist with grant writing, surveys, outreach, and/or social media marketing, depending on their areas of interest.

Stone Soup PDX

Stone Soup is a nonprofit restaurant that offers training and hands-on experience to people at risk of homelessness for careers in the food and hospitality industry. They provide contract meals for shelters and residential facilities and other catering and subsciption services.

This position supports our new line of retail soups with marketing and digital storytelling. Your position (in addition to eating some delicious soup crafted by Chef Scott Dolich) will develop creative marketing skills, through copywriting, social media/marketing, and email marketing campaigns. We will measure our increasing soup subscription numbers throughout the 10 week period to demonstrate your success. This is an opportunity to help grow a new line of business from the ground up, while at the same time supporting an organization which provides people a path out of poverty. 

Technology Association of Oregon

The Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) supports entrepreneurs and connects peers and decision-makers to establish the Northwest as a global hub for innovation. TAO is dedicated to creating an inclusive, world-class innovation economy in Oregon and SW Washington that strengthens our regional technology industry.

In this role, interns will work on two key projects: an ongoing data purification project to ensure correct market segmentation and effective outreach, and an analysis of TAO’s diversity metrics, including researching solutions, new members, and partners that will help TAO continue its racial equity journey.

The Commons Law Center

The Commons Law Center is a nonprofit that provides sliding scale legal services, community education, and practical training for new lawyers and students. The Commons mission is to revolutionize access to basic legal services, information, and support for underserved people.

During this internship you will be immersed in The Commons Law Center’s services supporting direct client legal work including: corresponding with clients, legal research, drafting documents, and managing discovery. Additionally, interns may support education and outreach projects and help triage callers.

The Cupcake Girls

The Cupcake Girls is a Portland and Las Vegas based nonprofit that provides confidential support to those involved in the sex industry as well as trauma-informed outreach, intensive case management, and referral services to provide prevention and aftercare to those affected by sex traffiking.

The Client Advocate Intern will report directly to the Program Staff and will work collaboratively with all of The Cupcake Girls departments. Specifically, you would be responsible for assisting with all aspects of Client care, including intake to case management. Be an integral part of the Programs team, meeting with and working with clients to achieve their goals.

Transition Projects

Transition Projects exists to help those experiencing homelessness transition successfully into housing. Their services and programs are designed to provide hygiene and medical support as well as to help people survive the streets, find housing, and retain their housing.

The Development Intern will support the Development team in volunteer outreach, donor relations, event production, and various clerical tasks. This internship allows opportunity to build applied technological skills in data entry and CRM software as well as creative opportunities in writing memos, social media, and flyers. Learn about the managerial and organizational side of non-profit management.

Washington County Kids

Washington County Kids' (WCK) mission is to ensure access to quality out-of-school-time programs that equip Washington County youth for success. WCK focuses on the needs of underserved and marginalized children and their families by providing programming and resources that strengthen the individual and the community.

WCK is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Marketing and Events Intern to help develop a marketing and fundraising strategy to seek participation and support for upcoming events. Projects and activities can be adjusted based on your interests. Work may include supporting the annual gala, writing for a newsletter, graphic design, a training program, and planning a fundraiser.

With Love Oregon

With Love Oregon is a nonprofit organization that works to help foster families change the lives of children age 0-6 by providing resources that nurture dignity, hope and community. They provide foster families with clothes, car seats, toys, and more.

This intern will work closely with the leadership team on an array of initiatives such as enhancing customer service, streamlining internal operations, and/or contributing to key growth initiatives. You will become familiar with our tangible goods program by leading volunteer groups, coordinating donations, and helping connect families to resources. Develop a high degree of professionalism, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for With Love’s mission. Beyond gaining an in-depth understanding of non-profit management, this is a unique opportunity to work alongside WL’s leaders to support an amazing group of foster families throughout Oregon and SW Washington.

In this internship, you will work on marketing and statewide engagement for the three primary WorldOregon programs (Global Conversations, Global Classroom, and International Visitor Program) to support staff in exploring new approaches, taking into account urban and rural communities, and aligning with diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Additionally, take on the implementation of an annual theme with a digital communications and marketing calendar.
