Getting Around

Driving a Car

Parking is free for the 2024-25 academic year. All motorized vehicles are required to obtain a no-cost virtual P-Zone parking permit through UO Transportation Services' online parking portal. Students can park in any campus parking lot, with the exception of the 27th Apartments lot that is only open to on-campus residents.

We discourage students from street parking in local neighborhoods, as we have ample free parking on-campus. See a full map of campus by maps.uoregon.edu and selecting the Northeast Portland campus.

Riding a Bike

Bicycles are allowed in buildings on both campuses. Students are encouraged to register bikes with the Department of Parking and Transportation and review Portland's bike laws. Consider wearing a helmet and using a secure U-shaped lock, as well as keeping a copy of your bike's serial number. You can register your bike through Project529.

There are various bike racks conveniently located around campus, including in front of the Library and Learning Center, Campus Center, Innovation Building, and on-campus apartments.

Bike Share, E-Scooter, & Rideshare

Portland's BIKETOWN program has 1,000 bikes and 100 stations across downtown Portland and Portland's metro neighborhoods. There is a BIKETOWN sharing station outside the Library and Learning Center, across the street from Faubion School. Rates are based on time of ride, and annual memberships are also available for purchase. Many students qualify for BIKETOWN for All, a reduced-price membership that offers unlimited and free 60-minute trips and other benefits.

Several electric scooter companies, such as Lime, Skip and Bird, are seasonally available for rent.

Numerous rideshare companies operate in Portland, such as car2go, Lyft, and Uber.

Buses & Trains

TriMet (TriCounty Metropolitan District of Oregon) is the transit system for the Portland metropolitan area. The 75, 8, and 17 bus lines both stop near campus. The Max Yellow line runs from downtown up through NE Portland along I-5.
