Whether you're transferring from Eugene or starting a graduate program in Portland, all students that are new to UO Portland will find value in our UO Portland Orientation. Engage in opportunities to connect with peers, learn about campus resources, and explore off-campus opportunities in Northeast Portland.

Do I need to attend Orientation?

 

If you completed IntroDUCKtion...
...you are still required to complete UO Portland's mandatory Orientation programming. This includes attending one, 3-hour Campus Life Session. RSVP for a Campus Life Session today.
If you are a new or transfer student...
...yes! This will be a great opportunity to learn about UO Portland and our incredible campus. Make sure to RSVP for one Campus Life Session and also attend your academic Orientation sessions before the start of the term.
If you are a returning student...
...no, Orientation is not required for you. However, we invite you to attend the Campus Resource and Activity Fair during Week of Welcome. As always, let us know if you need anything before the start of the term by emailing studentlifepdx@uoregon.edu.

How do I get my UO access and ID cards?

Portland Access Card
The UO Portland access card is your key to the Portland campus. Use it to enter academic buildings, the library, labs, studios, and on-campus residences, and after buildings close to the public. 
Flock Card
Your Flock Card is the official identification card for students, staff, and faculty at the University of Oregon. Use it to check out books at the library and access events, and also as a debit card in the Duck Bucks program.

What dining options are available on campus?

Kiss on Campus
Kiss on Campus is a cafe and coffee shop located on the first floor of the Library and Learning Center. They are open daily from 8:30am-3:30pm. They also have a brick-and-mortar location on NE Ainsworth.
Grab-and-Go
The Quack Shack on the first floor of the Campus Center offers quick snack and drink options for students between classes or study sessions.
 
Northeast Portland
Northeast Portland is full of dining options! Check out the Alberta Arts District, Woodlawn neighborhood, and McMenamins Kennedy School - all within minutes of campus!

How do I get to campus?

Parking cars and bikes
Parking is currently free for students, staff, and faculty with vehicles and bicycles. Students must register their vehicle with the university before they arrive on campus. Bikes can also be registered with the University in case you experience theft or damages while on campus.
Public transit
There is a TriMet bus stop within a block of campus. Nike Biketown also has locations on campus. Students may be eligible to access the free or low-cost, income-based passes offered by both TriMet and BikeTown.

Is there a gym on campus?

Gym Building
Our campus gym building is two levels and offers a variety of physical fitness opportunities for students through the student recreation fee. The first floor multi-purpose courts can set up for basketball, futsol, volleyball, pickleball, and more. The basement-level fitness center hosts cardio equipment and strength-training equipment, lockers, and showers. Students, staff, and faculty must complete the recreation liability waiver to get access to campus rec spaces.
Multipurpose Field
Fee-paying students can access the multipurpose field, adjacent to the library, during open field hours. The field offers a baseball / softball / kickball diamond, batting cages, and a soccer / frisbee field. Students must complete the recreation liability waiver before using the field and field equipment. 
Online students
Students that pay the recreation fee have access to the recreation spaces on campus. Online students that do not pay the recreation fee do not have access to these spaces. If you are an online student and would like to opt into the recreation fee and gain access to campus recreation, email studentlifepdx@uoregon.edu.

Can I bring my pet or service animal on campus?

Pets 
Pets are allowed outdoors on campus property on a leash and with proper waste disposed. Pets are not allowed inside campus buildings or residence halls, with the exception of fish tanks (10 gallons or less). 
Service Animals
Registered service animals, which are considered working animals and not pets, are allowed inside campus buildings, per the ADA. Students are welcome, though not required, to register their service animal with the Accessible Education Center so that its presence on campus is documented
Emotional Support Animals
Emotional support animals may qualify to be in campus housing; please visit the Housing Accommodations webpage for information on how to reqest an emotional support animal as a disability-related accommodation in University Housing.

Do UO Portland students pay different fees than UO Eugene students?

Subsidized Fees for Portland-Based Students
UO Portland students pay 50% of UO's Building, Recreation Center, Student Union, and Incidental fees, to account for the difference in services between the Portland and Eugene campuses. Refer to the full tuition and fee breakdown between Portland and Eugene students here.
PSU Health Service Fee
UO Portland students pay a health fee to Portland State University in order to access PSU's in-person and telehealth services, including counseling services, acupuncture, reproductive care, vaccines, and more. UO Portland students do not pay a health service fee to UO. Learn more about health services at UO Portland here.
Online Students
Students that are only taking online classes do not pay the PSU health service fee, Recreation Center fee, or Student Union fee. Online students therefore do not have access to the services that are covered through those fees. Online students do pay the building and technology fees, as well as 50% of the incidental fee, and can utilize the services covered by those fees.
